Terms of Service
Last updated June 23, 2026
1. Eligibility
Phantom Grid is offered to commercial energy customers and their authorized representatives in service territories we support. You must be at least 18 and authorized to act for the account whose data you connect. By using the service you agree to these terms.
2. What the service is
Phantom Grid is an independent verification service. It reconstructs how a site’s metered usage interacts with utility billing mechanics and reports what the evidence shows — reconciling charges against the underlying interval data and tariff.
It is not an analytics product, an optimization platform, a savings projection engine, or an energy consultancy, and it does not provide engineering, financial, tax, or legal advice.
3. No recommendations
Phantom Grid does not recommend products, vendors, or purchases. It reports findings with their sources; it never tells you what to buy or do. Any decision you make is your own. A finding of “no concentrated issue here” is a valid and complete result.
4. Independence and no commission
Phantom Grid takes no commission and is not affiliated with any utility, installer, equipment vendor, or financier. Our independence is the product. We are not compensated based on any purchase you do or do not make.
5. Green Button data you authorize
With your explicit, opt-in authorization, we read utility data on your behalf through your utility’s Green Button Connect My Data (NAESB ESPI) interface. You initiate this on our connect screen and choose the scopes and duration. Access is read-only — we can read the data you authorize; we cannot change anything in your utility account.
Your utility is the source and system of record for the energy data; Phantom Grid is the third party you authorize to receive it. We use it solely to perform the verification you asked for, and we never sell or share it. How we handle it is described in our Privacy Policy.
You may revoke authorization at any time, on our connect screen or directly with your utility. On revocation we stop reading new data; you may also ask us to delete the data we hold, and we will, subject to any legal retention obligation.
6. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your sign-in and for activity that occurs under it. Tell us promptly of any unauthorized use. You may not use the service to break the law, infringe others’ rights, or attempt to access data you are not authorized to access.
7. Stopping and cancellation
You may stop using the service and revoke data access at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms or that we are required to act on by law. On cancellation we stop reading new utility data; the handling and deletion of data we already hold is governed by our Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to the service
Phantom Grid is under active development. We may add, change, or discontinue features. Where a change is material to how your data is accessed or handled, we will give you notice and, where the change affects your authorization, the opportunity to review it.
9. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” at your sole risk. Reconciliation is performed against your own bill and metered data, but we do not warrant that results are error-free or fit for any particular decision, and we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Energy data we receive is provided by your utility; we report and reconcile it faithfully but do not guarantee that the utility’s data is complete, current, or accurate.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Phantom Grid is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for lost profits, arising out of or connected with your use of the service, even if advised of the possibility. This section will be finalized with counsel.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. (Jurisdiction to be confirmed with counsel.)
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When changes are material, we will note the change rather than silently editing, and update the “last updated” date above.
